SOS Brutalism

Exhibition at the Rudolph Hall Gallery

DESCRIPTION

Exhibition Curation & Model Making Together with Stav Dror

Beton Brut probably transcends materiality truly into Brutalism, most clearly in the architectural column. Through its inherent structural properties and functions, a distinct language of load transferring and bearing defines what brutalism brings to the discourse of architecture.

This language not only effectively serves its functional purpose but also significantly influences the aesthetic qualities of the spaces they uphold. The structural column became an element of speculation and desire at the center of a design exercise.

Our contribution to “SOS Brutalism: Save the Concrete Monsters” focused on the selection of four columns, each representing a diverse range of column design principles. These columns served as the basis for a detailed exploration of formwork interpretation, resulting in the creation of 1:10 scaled models.
